These are additional, and can be scheduled on a free day. Head out to Catalina to take on the chance to see mantas, schooling cownose rays, whale sharks, and more! Or you may want to head out to the Bat Islands and a a dive called "The Big Scare" for encounters with some of the bull sharks that hang out there. A safety stop here often encounters schooling jacks, billfish, and who knows what else may come visiting!

This amazing adventure is only 25 minutes from the beach. Hands down this is one of the most popular tours.

The Canopy total tour lasts about 3 hours. This is a truly exhilarating and exciting experience. If we are lucky even the Howler Monkeys will be our company during a part of the canopy.

Get your adrenalin pumping and enjoy the beauty of the forest and wildlife. Age and weight are generally not a factor. On arrival, the guides will help you get into all the safety equipment and within 15 minutes you will be repelling down a zip line from tree top to treetop. This canopy ride consists of 11 platforms.
 

The craft has been passed down through the generations in Guaitil, establishing a unique cultural identity for the townspeople. Today, the communities of Guaitil and the neighboring town of San Vicente are dedicated to preserving the Chorotega culture by making pottery using the same methods and materials as their ancestors. The pottery-town villagers earn most of their income from the pottery they sell to tourists and area hotels.

"The community is very close and we all know each other," Santiago says. "We are connected because we all have the same job."

Drive through towns with names you may have heard before - Los Angeles, Filadelfia, Santa Cruz - but are much different than the ones you may know. During your visit to Guaytil, you will learn the rich cultural history of this craft and watch as local artisans make pottery employing traditional methods that have been handed down for generations

This river totally rocks -- and it is not for the meek and mild. Four-man rafts and 6-8 ft drops make it even more challenging to stay in the raft. Please remember that everyone paddles.

The Tenorio River in Costa Rica rises near the Tenorio Volcano where it becomes a fast moving river, with 15 miles of rapids popular for white-water rafting, then flows to join the Corobicí River, the best river in the area for wildlife observation.

You are picked up at your hotel after breakfast in one of our private air-conditioned vehicles. It takes around one hour for this scenic drive. We go directly to the Corobici River. Here we meet up with the rafting operators and head for the Tenorio River.

After the scenic drive you will check in with the rafting company and will transfer to their vehicles for transport to the put-in point of the Tenorio River (approx 30 min drive). Experienced River Rafting Guides will carry the rafts, paddles, safety equipment and refreshments to the riverbank where you will be given rafting equipment and basic rafting and safety instructions before you embark on your rafting tour.

Start with gentle white water breaks and work your way through Class III and IV rapids and thrilling drops. Safety kayakers accompany rafters for the entire trek. Break for snacks and beverages and to enjoy a little time on land or in the sun with your rafting guides and other rafting companions.

At the end of the tour, guides will carry the gear up the banks and once loaded you will return to a restaurant overlooking the beautiful Corobici River and enjoy a typical lunch and local fruit beverage. Beer, sodas, and alcoholic beverages are available, but not included.
 

After the scenic drive you will board rubber rafts and float down the Corobici River. Experienced River Boat Guides will stop to get you close to any animals, birds, or other wildlife they encounter. Watch for monkeys, birds, crocodiles, bats, and other wildlife. Water is provided.

At the end of the tour, enjoy a delicious typical lunch at restaurant overlooking scenic Corobici River before you return you to your Beach Hotel.
 

Tempisque-Palo Verde River Boat Tour is perfect for nature lovers of all ages. No exertion, paddle free!! Enjoy the scenic drive past papaya and melon fields where you will board motorized river canal boats and cruise the Tempisque River and the Palo Verde River where the two rivers converge.

A trip along the Tempisque will take you to the entrance of the Palo Verde National Park. The best bird watching for aquatic species is found right here, as the park is favored by many migratory birds as they escape the cold winters in North and South America. The area's density gives it a rich mix of mammal, amphibian and reptile life, including many crocodiles.

After the scenic drive from your hotel through Los Angeles, Filadelfia, and other towns with names you'll recognize, you will board motorized river canal boats and cruise the Tempisque River and the Palo Verde River where the two rivers converge.

The lowlands and marshes create the perfect conditions for the largest concentration of waterfowl and wadding birds in all of Central America. This is a bird watchers paradise as well as a perfect spot to see lots of crocodiles.

Watch as crocodiles slide in from the banks and glide through the water, see many varieties of birds, and look for monkeys, bats, and other wildlife.
 

Now it's time to kick back in thermal pools with warm mud, shower, and enjoy the relaxing pools.
 

Arrive to lush rolling hills with steaming fumaroles rising. Step into the lobby and you will be welcomed with a refreshingly light fruit drink. The stable is just a hundred feet or so away where beautiful, well-trained, easy-going horses perfect for novices and experts alike wait for you to mount them.

Ride along this beautiful property, a real working ranch known for its cattle and water buffalo, until you reach the Waterfalls. Your cowboy guide will be happy to point out flora, fauna, and wildlife along the way. Take your camera in a small hip-pack or backpack, because you'll want to take home plenty of photos from this tour.

Return to the ranch's laid-back dining room where you will be served a delicious lunch with local fruit drink. Beer, sodas, and alcoholic beverages are available, but not included. After lunch, head to the natural sauna and open your pores. When you are done, head to the mud vats and layer on some warm, volcanic mud. Take some photos -- these are sure to be ones you won't want to miss getting. When the mud has dried thoroughly you can rinse off in the showers before relaxing in the thermal pools - one hot, one warm, and one cold. There is a small bar near the thermal pools where you can purchase sodas, beers, and mixed drinks. When you have changed into your street clothes, you will be driven back to your hotel. Optional Spa Treatments are available, but you will need to sign up for them when you arrive.

Buffalo Adventure - Venture across our 500 hectare primary forest until reaching the surprising viewpoint from where you will admire the Orosí and Rincón de la Vieja Volcanoes, the Gulf of Nicoya and Playas del Coco, then continue your expedition past the herd of Asian water buffalos on a natural habitat.
 

The scenic ride takes you through rolling hills and one of Costa Rica’s geothermal plants near Miravalles Volcano. Hidden in the hills is this natural wonder – Miravalles.

You will take a short tractor ride to hanging bridges and embark on an easy hike to the waterfall. Take the tractor back to the main area and visit the steaming fumaroles and see the beauty of the crystal formations in this area known as the “Yellowstone of Costa Rica.” Resident animals and birds offer additional photo opportunities.

Now it’s time to kick back in thermal pools with warm mud, shower, and enjoy the relaxing pools.

Miravalles, standing at 6,653 feet (2,028 m), the highest peak in the Guanacaste Mountains (Cordillera de Guanacaste). Although a dormant volcano, Miravalles has earned protective status due to its surrounding tropical vegetation and geological activity: steam spewing fishers, sulfur springs, and bubbling mud pools. An underground reservoir is the site of a geothermal energy plant at Las Hornillas that converts resident steam to electricity. The project is run by the Institute of Electricity, which accepts inquiring minds interested in visiting the project at the base of Miravalles.

The park provides shelter for a great variety of birds such as the American Woodstock, the Roseate Spoonbill, the Boat-billed Heron, the Tiger Heron and the Tropical Kingbird. This is a great tour for those who love nature and bird watching!!!

Although Costa Rica is a small country, it is in the bird-rich neotropical region and has a huge number of species for its area. 893 bird species have been recorded in the country (including Cocos Island), more than in all of the United States and Canada combined. Of those species, seven are endemic and 19 are globally threatened. The Official List of the Asociación Ornitológica de Costa Rica contains 877 species. Over an area of 51,100 km2, an area smaller than West Virginia, this is the greatest density of bird species of any continental American country. About 600 species are resident, with most of the other regular visitors being winter migrants from North America.
